What this check can and cannot do
This check combines reading, vocabulary, grammar, writing and simulated speaking tasks. It starts with calibration questions, then adjusts the difficulty to your answers.
It does not replace an official test, recognised certificate or language-provider assessment. For a citizenship application, check official sources for accepted proof.
What to remember
- The result is only a guide: around A2, near B1, solid B1, near B2 or likely B2, depending on your answers.
- Cap Nationalité does not prepare for DELF or issue French-language certificates.
- Check the official pages for the level required for your application.
- This check can help you choose whether to work on basics, strengthen B1, improve your arguments or prepare for the interview.

Common questions
Does this check replace DELF?
No. It is a free level check. It does not replace DELF, DALF, TCF, TEF or recognised proof.
Why show A2, B1 and B2?
These levels help describe how comfortable you are in French. A2 covers simple situations, B1 everyday independence, and B2 more structured answers with finer distinctions.
Does Cap Nationalité prepare for DELF?
Not at present. Cap Nationalité mainly helps prepare for the civics exam and citizenship interview. This check only gives you a guide to your level.
